How many people per year rely on an organ transplant?

   Hi there,

   Found some interesting info.

   It is from the nhs (UK) and says that about 2700 people have an organ transplant in the uk….and more than 7000 people are waiting for one.

   If you are looking for the US stats then:

   Over 20000 people have a organ transplant in the US and in 2004 over 87,000 were waiting for one.

   Worth just noting that not everyone surivives an organ transplant, while rates are some what better than what they were 20 years ago, they are not 100 percent. complications include; failure of the new organ to work in the patient, rejection of the organ, infection etc…..

   Also worth noting that some people really need an organ transplant but are too unwell to recieve one and therefore will never recieve one.
